Amy Grant Brings Christmas Together to Kansas City in December
Amy Grant is returning to Kansas City this holiday season, and this time she is bringing two longtime friends with her.
Grant, Michael W. Smith and CeCe Winans will perform Christmas Together at T-Mobile Center on Monday, December 7, 2026, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The arena’s AXS listing confirms the Kansas City date and describes the production as a combination of Christmas standards, career-defining songs and faith-centered material from the three artists’ catalogs.
The tour is returning for a second year with expanded production and larger venues, placing Kansas City among a late-November and December arena run.
For 80s Music Radio listeners, however, Grant provides an especially strong connection to the decade.
Amy Grant’s ’80s Breakthrough
Grant entered the 1980s primarily known within contemporary Christian music, but over the course of the decade her audience expanded considerably.
Albums including Age to Age, Straight Ahead, Unguarded and Lead Me On documented that progression. Songs such as “El Shaddai,” “Angels,” “Stay for Awhile” and “Find a Way” became important parts of her catalog, with Unguarded in particular pushing Grant toward the broader pop audience she would fully reach in the early 1990s.
Her 1988 album Lead Me On remains one of the defining recordings of that period. Grant’s official store identifies the original album as a 1988 release, while its archival Lead Me On Live 1989 collection documents an 18-song performance from the subsequent tour featuring “Lead Me On,” “Find a Way,” “Angels,” “Stay for Awhile” and other favorites.
Michael W. Smith also shares a substantial ’80s history with Grant. Before establishing his own solo career, Smith played keyboards for Grant; by the middle of the decade, both were prominent names in contemporary Christian music.
That makes their reunion on a Kansas City arena stage more than simply a holiday package.
2026 Has Become a Major New Chapter
Grant isn’t arriving in Kansas City solely on the strength of her catalog.
On May 8, she released The Me That Remains, her first collection of entirely original songs in 13 years. Produced by Mac McAnally and released through Thirty Tigers, the 10-track album includes collaborations with Ruby Amanfu, Vince Gill, Sarah Cannon and Corrina Gill. Michael W. Smith co-wrote “The Saint,” providing another connection between the upcoming tour partners.
And the project has just received another expansion.
On October 2, Grant released The Me That Remains (Deluxe), adding new versions and live performances to the album. The expanded material includes a version of “Please Don’t Make Me Beg” featuring Jon Foreman of Switchfoot, alternate mixes and live recordings of several songs from the original release.
That activity gives the December concert a useful balance between Grant’s history and her present.

Why ’80s Fans Should Care
Amy Grant’s massive mainstream crossover with “Baby Baby” would arrive in 1991, but the foundation for that success was built throughout the 1980s.
Unguarded and Lead Me On showed an artist steadily expanding the boundaries between contemporary Christian music and mainstream pop, while her work with Michael W. Smith connects directly to an important chapter of both artists’ careers.
December’s Kansas City concert adds something else: Grant isn’t merely revisiting that history. She arrives with a brand-new album, a deluxe edition released just days ago and another longtime ’80s collaborator sharing the stage.
For Kansas City fans who remember Grant and Smith from the decade before their biggest crossover successes, Christmas Together offers a rare opportunity to see that musical history reunited on an arena stage.
